Using the education voucher of Kanton Luzern

Kanton Luzern issues education vouchers (Bildungsgutscheine). This is a voucher for a course. One voucher is worth CHF 500.

You use it for courses in reading, writing, arithmetic or computers. These skills are called basic skills (Grundkompetenzen).

Who can get a voucher?

You may be entitled to it. These are the rules of the canton:

  • You are between 18 and 65 years old.
  • You live in Kanton Luzern.
  • You speak German at least at level A2.
  • You are not doing an apprenticeship or a bridging programme (Brückenangebot).

A counselling centre checks with you if this is true for you.

What is the voucher valid for?

The voucher is valid for courses in basic skills (Grundkompetenzen). These are reading, writing, arithmetic and computers. Ask the counselling service whether a German course counts.

Courses that accept the voucher are offered for example by SmartTalk in Luzern. Counselling is available in the LernLounge of Caritas and SAH.

This is how you get the voucher

  1. You download the voucher on einfach-besser.ch/luzern.
  2. You choose a course. When you register, you enter the code.
  3. You must attend at least 60 percent of the course.

After the course you can get a second voucher in the same year. The responsible office is the Dienststelle Berufs- und Weiterbildung of Kanton Luzern.
