Discrimination: What can I do?
Are you treated badly because of your origin, skin colour, religion or language? That is discrimination. Here you get free help.
Discrimination means: someone treats you worse because of your origin, skin colour, religion, nationality or language. For example when looking for a flat, at work, in a shop or at an authority.
This is not okay. You may defend yourself.
Counselling at FABIA
FABIA advises you on racist discrimination. Free, confidential, neutral. For the cantons Luzern, Nidwalden and Obwalden.
No matter which residence status you have. Together you discuss what happened. Then you look at what you can do.
FABIA supports you in this. If needed, it refers you to other centres. E-mail: diskriminierungsschutz@fabialuzern.ch, phone 041 360 07 22.
Across Switzerland
The counselling network for victims of racism (Beratungsnetz für Rassismusopfer) connects counselling centres in all of Switzerland. You can report an incident there: network-racism.ch.
The Federal Commission against Racism (Eidgenössische Kommission gegen Rassismus, EKR) has an online legal guide. There you see what the law says: ekr.admin.ch.
